There has been a lot of hype surrounding the use of wireless GPRS networks for the purpose of monitoring alarm systems. Unfortunately, time has proven that the networks are not stable enough for us to rely on them for continuous supervision of the transmission path.
Some GPRS solution providers have added a second SIM to their product, but if you have to use a GPRS network, the most sensible approach is to use GPRS only as a backup to fixed wire IP networks.
GPRS Network Supervision
One thing you will notice with GPRS monitoring solutions is the shorter the polling interval - the more it costs !
IP Alarms not take that approach. Whether you choose sixty second, 24 hour, or no polling at all - you'll be pleased to know IP Alarms do not charge for network supervision. Our solution is very fair and simple. We do not tie you to any particular GPRS network provider or plan, and you are free to use the SIM card of your choice. We have no special deals with any of the GPRS network providers and, as it is your security at stake, we feel it's best to leave the choice of network provider in your hands. That policy of transparency and fairness applies to all our IP & GPRS products and solutions.
